Can I Sleep on Your Couch? Tour 2011 feat. Nate Flynn

itsmonique:

heatheraustin:

As many of you know, Nate Flynn (formerly of Sing It Loud) is currently working on a solo project. He has been playing acoustic house shows around the Midwest and we’re looking into bringing him out to the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern states. We are looking into booking the shows March 4-13, 2011.

The cities we are looking at are:

  • Baltimore, MD
  • Richmond, VA
  • VA Beach, VA
  • Raleigh, NC
  • Charlotte, NC
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Orlando, FL

I (Heather) will be hosting the Charlotte date and we have a host for the Jacksonville date but we are currently looking for possible hosts for the other cities.

There will be a reasonable flat rate that will be charged each date to cover costs such as travel expenses and it will be up to each host to pay that set amount. We will not be selling tickets for the shows, it will be up to the host to either pay the amount straight-up or charge guests a ticket price to cover the cost.

The host’s address will not be made public for advertising of the shows, but we will be looking to post an email or a phone number so that people from the area can get in touch about coming to the show. If you wish to make the show private and invite-only, please let us know. Private shows will have a slightly higher rate than public shows.

What we are looking for in a host is someone who can provide an open living room/basement/backyard for the show to occur in and to be able to comfortably and legally* fit around 20 people.

*We cannot try to cram 50 people into a dorm room that can only hold 10, that violates several fire and safety codes and we don’t want anyone getting hurt. We also don’t want to host these shows in places where there could be a violation of visitor restrictions since most colleges/universities only allow a handful of visitors each night.

If you are interested in possibly hosting a date of this tour at your house, send an email to couchtour2011@gmail.com with the following information:

  1. Your first and last name.
  2. Your age. We would prefer hosts to be 18+, if you are under the age of 18 we will require signed permission from a parent/guardian/or the homeowner.
  3. Your phone number.
  4. Your address and the proximity to one of the listed cities.
    eg. 123 Any Street
    Someplace, NC 12345
    (20 mins from downtown Charlotte)
  5. A picture of your house/apartment/place of residence.
  6. Is there is ample parking for everyone attending? We don’t want people getting ticketed or towed.

If you know someone who might be interested in hosting a date, please reblog/forward this on to them so we can get in touch!

Baltimore this needs to happen, who can host?

I’m Making A Documentary!

For the next 4 weeks, I (Christine) am going to be all over the place to finish filming a documentary funded by my university (UMBC) for my senior project.

The documentary is about the music industry through the eyes of fans, parents, bands, labels, companies, non-profits, merchies, techs, etc. etc. etc. It is an examination on how the line between public and private life is blurred through social networking and what marketing tactics take place to cause such intense dedication to pop bands and build a sense of identity amongst adolescents.

Though I’ve done quite a few interviews, if I haven’t talked to you yet and you would like to provide your two cents (fans, parents, bands, anyone) and answer a few questions you can find me outside after the following shows in Baltimore this month:

  • 10/20 - We The Kings @ Recher
  • 10/21 - Fearless Friends Tour @ Recher
  • 10/23 - All Time Low @ Recher
  • 10/26 - Cartel @ Recher

If you don’t live in the mid-Atlantic and would like to be apart of this, you can email me at co7@umbc.edu and possibly send in a video instead! I’ll update these shows soon, and may end up in NYC & Cali in the next few months so look out!

Reblog, retweet, post places if you want to help me out!

Thanks,

Christine <3

PS - Just to name drop and get your attention the bands that I have already interviewed for the film include: We The Kings, The Cab, Artist Vs. Poet, the Pretty Reckless, Terrible Things, Hey Monday, versaemerge, and countless others…
